Districts under Stage 2 may request special vacation permit

The decision announced by the Government will be in force from January 4 to March 31, 2021 and may be used only once.

The Undersecretary of Tourism José Luis Uriarte, announced this morning that a special permit will be available to those who live in districts under Phase 2, i.e., transition stage of the Step-by-Step Plan, to be able to go on vacation during the summer season.

“This decision, long awaited by citizens, because they need a well-deserved rest, does not mean that we can relax,” said Uriarte, who also clarified that the permit may be requested only once during the season and for a single destination.

Permits may be requested at www.comisariavirtual.cl stating date of departure and return, in addition to the health passport obtained at www.c19.cl. Likewise, the Undersecretary said that this permit “will not be valid for those under quarantine nor it will be valid to travel to a district that is under Phase 1”.

Districts that receive national tourists will be under heavier supervision to ensure compliance of the decision and observation of health protocols at the different tourist sites. “If we want this decision to remain over time, we must be more careful. Since as more freedom we have, more responsibility we also have,” added the Undersecretary.

This special permit was endorsed by the Covid-19 Advisory Board clarified the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, and added that “we are aware of the need for vacations since it has been a tough year. People have the right to travel, they have the right to see their relatives.”
