German agencies have begun to work, after businesses of up to 800 square meters were allowed to open by government permission, as reported by the DRV. Now retailers, with operations paralyzed, are focused on promoting not only the summer and winter 2020-21 season, but also summer 2021, including Spanish destinations and the rest of the Mediterranean.

According to DRV, the compliance with hygiene standards and a specific authorization obtained by each business are essential requirements. In addition, it warns that the federal states can establish additional adjustments that could produce some delay in the openings or different requirements. The association reminds the agencies that the requirements established are mandatory.

Apart from continuing to manage customer changes, claims or refunds, German agencies will already have a wide range of products to sell. As the main tour operators, including TUI and DER Touristik, have started selling for the summer 2021, others like FTI, Schauinsland Reisen or Alltours keep the focus on their offers from May 1, with significant discounts.

The more popular destinations are the Canary and Balearic Islands or the Spanish coasts as its most direct competitors, Greece, Turkey, Tunisia or Egypt.
