Sanitary conditions that tourists must comply will be announced in the next few weeks.

Rapa Nui, one of Chile’s best-known destinations abroad, will once again receive tourists.

The Chilean government gave the news, pointing out that the opening will be on Monday, August 1st, 2022.

The opening process will be gradual and in two stages:

  • Until August 1st, one flight a week and restricted passenger entry will be maintained.
  • As of August 1st, two or three weekly flights will be allowed, according to the epidemiological situation, and the opening to tourism.

Sanitary conditions that tourists must comply with to visit Rapa Nui will be announced in the next few weeks.

Rapa Nui is one of the main Chilean tourist destinations. Until before the pandemic, which forced tourism to be restricted from March 2022, thousands of people came to the area.

The Rapa Nui National Park is home to a large part of the island’s territory, a place that preserves archaeological remains, as well as native flora and fauna.

The closure of Rapa Nui to tourism was based on protecting the inhabitants of the island from infection in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Given the progress of vaccination in Chile and the world, as well as the improvement in the health situation around the globe, the restriction was lifted.
