Chile postpones visa requirement for Australian tourists
Publicado el 19 December 2019

Between now and May 9, 2020, Australians will be able to enter Chile without a visa and without having to pay a reciprocity fee.

Chile’s National Tourism Service has advised of the postponement of the visa requirement for Australian tourists wishing to enter the country.

Between now and May 9, 2020, Australian passport holders will not be required to hold a visa when entering Chile. As of May 9, 2020, Chile will introduce a new electronic visa, which Australian passport holders will be able to obtain prior to travel.

Additionally, as of December 16, 2019, the administrative reciprocity charge of USD117, paid upon arrival at Santiago Airport, has been waived. This will mean Australian visitors will not be required to pay to enter Chile.

Further details about the process of applying for the new electronic visa for those travelling after May 9, 2020, will be shared in early 2020. The new electronic visa will be part of wider measures that speed up the arrivals process at Santiago Airport.
